Name: Scylla Socks (pattern by Fiona Lucas)
Yarn: Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock Lightweight in the Space Dust color way.
Needles: Knitpicks Options US 2.5 – 3.0mm
Impressions: I don’t knit toe up socks very often as I prefer the fit of cuff down socks. However, I loved what this pattern did with the crazy self-striping nature of this STR yarn. The texture is unique with its tight pattern areas and its vertical floats of slipped stitches. The pattern gives links for directions for Judy’s Magic Cast On and Jeny Staiman’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off. I used both of these techniques in this sock. It was my first time to try the bind off. It is stretchy, but he technique is not as simple as EZ’s sewn bind off.
Name: Charybdis Socks (pattern by Fiona Lucas)
Yarn: Three Irish Girls Westerly Seasock in the Campbell color way.
Needles: Knitpicks Options US 1.5 – 2.5mm
Impressions: I enjoyed knitting with the seasock yarn. Actually, this was my first venture into knitting with seacell. It flowed smoothly through my fingers. I love the precision of the striping. The pattern has charts for both the right and left sock. Hopefully, as I get dressed in the semi-dark (so that I do not wake Hisself) I will be able to get them on the correct foot.
